Cover Reveal! New Cover for Ouroboros!

Hi all! I know I haven’t posted in a while. But, I have exciting news! My cover for Ouroboros, book one of The Seven Relics Saga, has been revamped! Huge, sparkly thanks to the amazing Devyn Dawson for designing the cover! If you’ve never heard of Devyn, you need to check out her books. She’s the extremely talented author of The Light Tamer series (which I LOVE!), The Legacy of Kilkenny, and the newly-released Killing Me Softly.

In celebration of my new cover, Ouroboros will be on sale on all outlets for only 99¢! This sale will go through the end of the month. So, if you’ve been holding off on picking up your copy, now’s your chance!

Now, the cover:

Pretty, isn’t it?

Fair Fun!

My mother-in-law and I took my two boys to the County Fair for the first time on Wednesday. I hadn’t been to a fair since I was eight, so I was super excited! Now, my kids are one and a half and five months, so rides were pretty much out of the question. We stayed in the animal area the whole time. I don’t like to post my kids’ names online, so I’ll call my toddler Dino for the purpose of this blog, because he stomps around like a dinosaur. Anyway, I took Dino into the petting zoo. Go figure, he was afraid of the animals! He wanted me to hold him, and he freaked out every time I tried to get him to pet an animal. Ever heard of the website “Reasons Why My Son is Crying”? I was seriously tempted to submit a picture of him to that website. “My son was crying because he pet the animals in the petting zoo.” Yet, he was fine with the animals that were in cages. Sigh. My five-month-old, L.B. (a.k.a. Little Babe), was unaffected by Dino’s antics and was so happy to be out of the house that he slept the majority of the time.

In writing-related news, my latest release Ouroboros is finally up on Barnes & Noble. The paperback is available there as well. I’m working on the sequel, called Time Turners. My business cards, designed by the awesome Joe Eastwood of Joseph Design and Photography (he also designed my book cover and formatted both my ebook and paperback), arrived in the mail today. The picture isn’t the best, but aren’t they pretty?

And now I leave you with this picture of a rabbit for no reason:

Much-Overdue Announcement!

I absolutely fail at blogging. I know I’ve said that before. I’m going to try to change that. So, I have a new book out. It’s available on Amazon, Kobo, and Smashwords. I’m still waiting on Barnes & Noble. Paperbacks will also be coming soon! Here’s my cover, done by Joseph Eastwood, of Joseph Design and Photography:

Ouroboros Ebook Cover

And here’s the blurb:
Waking up from a coma is hard enough, but throw in an undead ghost at the foot of your hospital bed, and you’ve got a big problem.

While recovering from a rock-climbing accident, eighteen-year-old Rhiannon Sorenson meets Zachary Cohen, a Zayin—one of an elite fighting force for the supernatural realm—and wonders why she’s the only one who can see him. Not only that, he tells her he needs her help to find his physical body, which has mysteriously gone missing. As Rhi reluctantly agrees to come to Zac’s aid, they both uncover a trail of deadly revelations about a powerful and evil being: The Necrovorst.

In this first installment of a trilogy filled with vibrant and imaginative mythology from around the world, follow Zac and Rhi while they face powerful, supernatural beings, and learn all that they can in order to stop The Necrovorst.

Hopefully, it will be available on B&N soon. If you’ve followed my blog for quite some time, you may have seen me write about it before. I’ve re-written the blurb, and changed the series title (it used to be “The Zayin Chronicles”).

I’m currently working on book two in the series, titled “Time Turners”. In other news, I now have two boys! That’s why I never post any more. But, I will seriously try to be better about that, I promise. 😀

The Year of One Million Words

Happy New Year everyone! Today marks the beginning of my year of one million words. That’s right, I’m going to write 1,000,000 words of fiction this year. Notice that I didn’t say attempt to write. That’s because I’m determined I’m going to do it. Today I clocked in with 2,750 words, which is just over the 2,740 words per day that I need to make the 1,000,000.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to be updating on my progress every day. I will do an update from time to time. If you want to keep up with my progress, there’s a counter on the left side of this blog that I will update daily.

Here are the projects I’m planning on completing this year:

Overshadow (The Shadow Imperium #2)

Queen of Shadows (The Shadow Imperium #3)

Ouroboros (The Zayin Chronicles #1)

Ravenside (Myths & Legends #1)–this is a series of stand-alone novels

Lady Lost (don’t know if this will be a standalone or a series yet)

Soul Shifters (same as above)

S.S. (code for something I’m not going to announce just yet)

PCPH project (sorry, super secret project)

Super secret collaboration

If time/word count allows, I’ll also work on book 2 & 3 of The Zayin Chronicles and possibly more of the Myths & Legends series. I know I’ve listed several “secret” projects, but I promise I will announce them asap.

Six Sentence Sunday

I probably should have chosen something from FORESHADOW to post today, but I’m just having way too much fun writing OUROBOROS! It was so hard to choose. Here’s six sentences from OUROBOROS, book one of The Zayin Chronicles. I just wrote this earlier this week, so please keep in mind that it’s unedited.

“Is it getting hot in here?”
Zac coughed. “I think I smell smoke.”
Glancing around, I noticed a light in one corner of the library that hadn’t been there a moment ago. As we watched in horror, an entire bookcase burst into flames. One by one, the fire began to encroach on the other bookcases—and it was heading for us.

Six Sentence Sunday

Here’s another six from Ouroboros, book one of The Zayin Chronicles!

I stumbled and tripped as he towed me across the uneven ground.  I felt a shaking beneath my feet and Zac shoved me roughly to the ground, covering my body with his.  My screaming began anew.  I felt as though something was trying to rip my very soul out.  Zac kept his arms around me, ignoring my struggling.  I felt a strong sucking sensation, and then we were both tossed across a rolling grassy knoll.

Six Sentence Sunday

Here’s another six sentences from “Ouroboros”, book one of The Zayin Chronicles!

“Well, I never wanted to get involved in—in—whatever this is!”  I jumped up and headed for the door.  There was a large, muscled man blocking my way, his back turned to me.  I reached out to tap his shoulder to ask him to move . . . and my hand passed through him.  I froze and turned toward Zac, wide eyed.  “Am I dead?” I whispered, my voice trembling.

Character Archive: Casting Zac Cohen

Since I’ve shared two excerpts from Ouroboros, book one of The Zayin Chronicles, the past two weeks, I thought I would share my “casting” of Zac Cohen. Yes, this is the “hot guy” that my main character Rhiannon sees upon awakening in the hospital.
I chose actor/model Jordan Nichols to “play” Zac. He’s had some bit parts on Disney Channel shows. Here’s clip of one. He enters at about 3:10, if you want to fast-forward.

Now he has a couple of movies coming out. I couldn’t find a clip or trailer for one and the other just looked so bizarre I didn’t bother. But, here’s another picture instead:
Isn’t he cute? Anyway, onto why I chose him as Zac. Zac’s described as really tall, with sandy brown hair and blue eyes. It actually took me a long time to choose someone as my Zac visual, but when I saw Jordan Nichols, I just knew he would be perfect!
What would you like to see next Monday? My casting of Rhiannon? Or should I return to my Foreshadow archives? Let me know in a comment!

Six Sentence Sunday

Here’s another six sentences from “Ouroboros”, book one of The Zayin Chronicles:

I watched in shock as a blade appeared, glinting in the middle of his chest.  The boy’s eyes opened wide, and he slumped to the floor.  I began to scream shrilly, my shrieks reverberating through my head as they bounced around the narrow enclosure behind me.  Another boy stood behind him, his sandy hair gleaming even in the poor lighting.  He twisted the blade in the fallen boy’s body, and then cruelly jerked it out.  He calmly pulled a cloth from his pocket and cleaned the sharp edge that was now dull from a dark substance.

Check back next Sunday for another six!
