Good Mornin’, Good Mornin’!

Hi all! How many of you have seen “Singing in the Rain”? It’s one of my all-time favorites, and I work up with the “Good Mornin'” song stuck in my head.

Anyway, it’s been a busy week! I had lots of editing going on, even my own. And I’m happy to report that I FINALLY got the new version of Overshadow off to my editor! So, as of right now, it’s on track for an August release.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Talk to you next time.

Update!

I’ve been failing at blogging lately. Sorry about that, everyone. It’s been a crazy couple of months, so here’s a few updates:

Overshadow, book two of The Shadow Imperium series, is almost ready to be released! I just sent the proofs back to my editor today. I should have a release date and a cover to share very soon!

I have several other works in progress (WIPs). One of these is the third and last book of The Shadow Imperium series, called Queen of Shadows. I also have a time-travel/steampunk novel that I’m working on. I’m really excited about this one. I’m planning on participating in both sessions of Camp NaNoWriMo in hopes of getting a lot of writing done. If you’re curious about Camp NaNo, you can find it here: http://campnanowrimo.org/

One more update. This has nothing to do with my writing, but I wanted to share it anyway. My husband and I are expecting our first baby in November! So, that’s why I haven’t been around much lately. I’ve been completely exhausted! I’m finally starting to get some energy back, so hopefully you’ll be hearing more from me soon.

Six Sentence Sunday

Here’s another six sentences from Foreshadow!

He let go, but he didn’t move away. “Now tell me, Raena. What are you doing out here in the middle of the night?” He eyed me appraisingly. “Looking quite appealing in your lovely pajamas, I might add.”

My face burned, and I felt thankful the trees were hiding the moon.

Imagine discovering that your boyfriend was out to kill you—and that the annoying boy from school was your guardian angel.

Rae Davenport has already lost her mother. The only thing keeping her sane is her new boyfriend, Andrei—that is, until she finds out that he wants to kill her. Andrei is a devil, and he wants to use Rae as a sacrifice to get back into Heaven. The only one who can save her is Logan, her guardian angel. He’s only annoyed her in the past, but now he will be her savior.

Six Sentence Sunday

It’s that time again: Six Sentence Sunday! Here’s six sentences from Foreshadow:

“You deserve so much better.”

“Oh, and are you going to be the one to treat me better? Are you saying you could treat me how I deserve to be treated?” I retorted.

He fell silent. His emerald eyes warmed as they bored into mine. “I could,” he whispered.

Growing desperate now, my mind reeled while I tried to figure out a way to escape him. He was infinitely stronger than me and Logan wasn’t around this time to save me. A crackling energy formed around my palms. I didn’t stop to question it. I pushed him once more, putting all my force behind it. He flew across the room and crashed into the opposite wall.

Six Sentence Sunday

Since I finished writing Overshadow, book two in The Shadow Imperium series, yesterday, I thought I would share six sentences from it.

Logan was bleeding.

I didn’t know angels could bleed.

Logan was bleeding.

Blood ran freely from a gash on his otherwise unmarred forehead, tracing a crimson river across the plane of his cheekbone before finally dripping from his chin. The sand beneath him was stained red, although it looked off in the night. His dark hair was matted and stiff where the blood had colored it as well.

It’s Official! Foreshadow is Now a Bestseller!

Okay, so Foreshadow hasn’t quite hit bestseller status overall…yet. But, imagine my surprise, when I was checking its rankings on Amazon and found out that it is ranked number one in the devils category! It hasn’t quite gotten to number one overall, or even the top 100, but it will get there someday. I’m very excited about its rankings, and I’d really like to thank everyone who has bought/read/reviewed/liked/tagged it–on Amazon and otherwise. You guys are amazing!

In other news, I’m planning a big giveaway next month, likely for Valentine’s Day. Stayed tuned!

Six Sentence Sunday

Here’s six sentences from Foreshadow, book one of The Shadow Imperium series!

I found myself running again, but the setting had changed. I wasn’t at the beach this time. I stood in a long hallway, and it seemed familiar for some reason.
The fog hung low in the hall, surrounding me. Fog inside a building? It didn’t make sense, but in horror, I watched as it pulled at my clothes, twisting around my legs.

Foreshadow is available now from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and the Astraea Press website!

The Year of One Million Words

Happy New Year everyone! Today marks the beginning of my year of one million words. That’s right, I’m going to write 1,000,000 words of fiction this year. Notice that I didn’t say attempt to write. That’s because I’m determined I’m going to do it. Today I clocked in with 2,750 words, which is just over the 2,740 words per day that I need to make the 1,000,000.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to be updating on my progress every day. I will do an update from time to time. If you want to keep up with my progress, there’s a counter on the left side of this blog that I will update daily.

Here are the projects I’m planning on completing this year:

Overshadow (The Shadow Imperium #2)

Queen of Shadows (The Shadow Imperium #3)

Ouroboros (The Zayin Chronicles #1)

Ravenside (Myths & Legends #1)–this is a series of stand-alone novels

Lady Lost (don’t know if this will be a standalone or a series yet)

Soul Shifters (same as above)

S.S. (code for something I’m not going to announce just yet)

PCPH project (sorry, super secret project)

Super secret collaboration

If time/word count allows, I’ll also work on book 2 & 3 of The Zayin Chronicles and possibly more of the Myths & Legends series. I know I’ve listed several “secret” projects, but I promise I will announce them asap.
